What’s more important than matching into the right residency program?

Nothing.

Even the most experienced professionals can struggle to describe themselves, whether on paper or in person. That’s why AMSA is proud to offer the Applied Match Preparation (AMP) program—designed to help you assess your strengths and challenges, craft the perfect personal statement that reflects your goals, and refine your interview skills to position you for success.

Check out what AMP can do for you:

Personal Statement Polish

AMP’s Personal Statement Polish pairs you with a professional proofreader who will review your completed personal statement for structure and flow. You’ll receive feedback on organization, word choice, and whether your statement truly stands out to the reader.

Please note that the Personal Statement Polish service provides “finishing touches” only—it does not include content review. It is intended for students who feel confident about their personal statement and are looking for refinement beyond basic spelling and grammar checks.

The cost of the Personal Statement Polish Service is $150.

Includes: One round of expert feedback from a professional proofreader.

Personal Statement Development

If you’re just starting to craft your personal statement, the Personal Statement Development service is for you. Work with a dedicated professional coach to identify what makes you unique and develop a statement that resonates with the reader. Your coach will help you build a strong foundation using your experiences, ambitions, and personal vision.

The cost of the Personal Statement Development service is $300. Additional fees apply for more than two rounds of review and feedback.

Includes: Drafting worksheet to outline key elements, two one-hour coaching sessions, rough draft review (one-hour session), and final review (one-hour session).

Interview Coaching

You only get one chance to make a great first impression. The interview is your opportunity to showcase what makes you stand out, get the answers you need, and build connections with potential colleagues. AMP’s Interview Coaching goes beyond standard tips—it provides personalized guidance tailored to your goals. Your coach will work with you via phone or video call to help you master the interview. You’ll receive both written and verbal feedback on your professional image, communication style, and areas for improvement. A second mock interview will assess your progress and help fine-tune your approach before the real thing.

The cost of the Interview Coaching service is $300.

Includes: In-depth review of your background and goals, two rounds of mock interviews with feedback. Additional fees apply if more than two rounds are needed.

Self-Awareness Assessment

Are you prepared to discuss your personality, strengths, and challenges objectively? Residency programs place significant emphasis on personality, recognizing its impact on professional behavior. AMSA’s self-awareness assessment is based on scientific research in personality psychology and tailored to medical students. You’ll be able to articulate your results confidently in interviews and personal statements, knowing they accurately reflect your behavior, preferences, and interpersonal style.

The cost of the AMSA Self-Awareness Assessment is $45.

Includes: Online assessment, personalized report, and an online video debrief to interpret your results.

AMSA’s self-assessment tool anchors you … to cultivate the skills of self-awareness, introspection, and reflection that make physician leaders successful.

I was asked a lot more questions for this one, as I thought I would be.  They asked me many we had prepared for [in the interview coaching session] … so I’m glad that I was prepared!

Just your organizational changes have made such a difference (in my personal statement) … you have helped so much and I appreciate the extra work that you have done.
