Sterling, VA – December 7, 2016: The American Medical Student Association (AMSA) has released the 2016 AMSA Scorecard, offering a comprehensive overview of institutional conflict-of-interest policies at medical schools. The results show continued progress in policy development across the country, reinforcing the importance of regularly disclosing this critical information.

AMSA acknowledges that crafting effective policies requires collaboration and commitment across multiple departments within institutions. To ensure schools have ample time to assess their scores and implement improvements, AMSA will now release the Scorecard on a biennial cycle. The next edition is scheduled for Spring 2018.

“We will continue to assess the 14 domains, including industry funding of meals, gifts, scholarships, and faculty speaking engagements,” said AMSA National President Dr. Kelly Thibert. “Our latest release showed significant progress compared to 2014, and we look forward to seeing further advancements in 2018.
