AMSA Examines Conflicts of Interest in Health Policy
Sterling, Va., October 15, 2018 – As the landscape of conflicts of interest continues to evolve, addressing pharmaceutical industry influence in critical areas like health policy has become more urgent than ever. In response, AMSA is shifting the focus of its Scorecard from medical education to Congress.
AMSA is currently developing a Congressional Scorecard to analyze how conflicts of interest in politics shape health policy and access to medicines. While the AMSA Scorecard will no longer evaluate conflict of interest policies in medical training, AMSA commends medical schools that have adopted strong policies in this area.
AMSA remains committed to advocating for high standards in medical education and urges institutions to uphold conflict-free learning environments in both clinical and nonclinical settings, free from financial influence and bias.
